We need to remember, she’s a Nightingale nurse just thrown into this strange watch job, in a strange country, with even stranger people. I am a person who prefers more character development rather than plot, which is probably what makes The Wonder that much better for me. As the ending comes, a tone of hope, redemption, and new beginnings takes over. She plans to find out what is going on with this “wonder” child, Anna O’Donnell, and get back to England where living standards are normal. The tone of the story at the beginning is simple and hopeless – Lib expects to just get in and out of the O’Donnell residence, basically. The Wonder has been my favourite book so far this year!
